Stephen Brown is a composer, musician, author, teacher, and all around nice guy. Until recently retiring, he was a professor of music and art history at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Despite appearances, he is not a cowboy.
Since retiring, he has been building cabinets, perfecting his homemade pasta, polishing his Italian, writing music, and writing about music. He has also been sending sharply written, insightful letters to editors and emails to friends and family. As an outlet for all of these energies, we introduce this website, where Steve will blog and post his music.
Stephen lives in O'Fallon, IL with his wife Lisbeth Brown, and he has two grown children, Nicholas and Nora. As of this February, he also has a lovely granddaughter.
